COVID-19 and labour market resilience: evidence from large-scale recruitment behaviour

We construct a theoretical model to interpret the structural shock from COVID-19 pandemic and response of local labour market industry specialization. The empirical study takes large-scale online China analyse firms’ hiring demand for 20 industries across 380 cities with monthly recruitment data May 2017 September 2020. Post-event quantitative analysis on job postings employer highlighted that resulted in an unemployment industry- city-level redistribution worker. China’s resilience also revealed regional imbalance, correlated risk, city scale structure.
